In 1983, Dan Greenwald walked into a local newsstand while attending college in Ithaca, NY.  Located in the store was a very small, but well stocked humidor of cigars.  After making his first purchase, Dan knew he would be a cigar lover for life.  Fast forward to 2008 and Dan found himself turning his hobby into a full time job when he was hired as a premium cigar sales manager for one of the leading manufacturers in the industry.  Dan took his passion for cigars on the road calling on retailers and wholesalers throughout the mid-Atlantic region of the U.S.  From this experience, Dan learned the best of what cigar retail had to offer.

In 2017, Dan wanted to help out his good friend Alec Rubiera who wanted to purchase a cigar shop in Leesburg, VA.

Soon the name Route 7 Cigars (www.route7cigars.com) became synonymous with extraordinary selection and service.  A second store in Sterling, VA carried on the tradition.  In late 2020, Dan and wife Beth, moved into their home on beautiful Johns Island, SC.  They immediately recognized how much opportunity existed to take the Route 7 Cigars model south and thus Cigars on Maybank was born.

If Cigars on Maybank looks a great deal like Route 7 Cigars, it is by design.  The two friends built a successful business model that will be as successful in South Carolina as it is in Virginia.  We invite to visit our store on Johns Island and if your travels take you to Northern Virginia, stop in and say to Alec and his team.

We look forward to serving you with all of your cigar, pipe tobacco and accessories needs
